This document outlines the identity verification and anti-money laundering requirements for Casino Rama account holders.

Casino Rama AML / KYC Policy

  1. Purpose and Scope

This document sets out the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) policy applied by Casino Rama to all accounts and transactions conducted through the platform. The policy is designed to meet obligations under Canada’s Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and to align with the compliance framework administered by the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC).

These requirements apply to every registered account holder. Participation in real-money activity at Casino Rama is conditional on satisfying the identity and verification standards described in this document.

  1. Legal Framework

Casino Rama operates within the Canadian regulatory environment. The primary federal instrument governing AML and KYC obligations is the PCMLTFA. FINTRAC is the federal authority responsible for receiving, analyzing, and disclosing financial intelligence related to money laundering and terrorist financing.

In addition to federal obligations, provincial gaming controls may impose supplementary requirements depending on the jurisdiction in which an account holder is located. Where provincial rules are stricter than the federal baseline, the stricter standard applies.

  1. Know Your Customer (KYC) Requirements

3.1 When Verification Is Required

Identity verification is required before an account holder may make deposits, request withdrawals, or participate in real-money gameplay. Verification may also be triggered at any point during the account lifecycle if a transaction or pattern of activity meets a reporting threshold or raises a compliance concern.

Specific triggers for identity verification include, but are not limited to:

  • Receipt of cash or cash-equivalent funds of CAD 10,000 or more from a single person or entity in a single transaction or series of related transactions.
  • Credit extended to an account holder of CAD 3,000 or more.
  • Receipt of funds of CAD 3,000 or more.
  • Foreign-currency exchange transactions of CAD 3,000 or more.
  • Large virtual currency transactions meeting applicable thresholds.
  • Casino disbursements meeting applicable thresholds.
  • Any transaction identified as suspicious, regardless of amount.

3.2 Acceptable Identity Documents

To complete verification, account holders must submit documentation in each of the following categories:

Proof of Identity
A government-issued photo identification document. Acceptable documents include a valid passport, provincial driver’s licence, or national identity card. The document must be current and legible.

Proof of Address
A document confirming the account holder’s residential address. Acceptable documents include a recent utility bill, bank statement, or government correspondence issued within the preceding 90 days.

Proof of Payment Method Ownership
Where a withdrawal or deposit method is used, Casino Rama may require documentation confirming that the account holder is the authorized owner of that payment instrument.

All submitted documents are reviewed for authenticity. Casino Rama reserves the right to request additional documentation if the initial submission is insufficient to complete verification.

3.3 Verification Timing

Verification must be completed before real-money activity commences. Where a suspicious transaction is identified, verification is completed before a Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) is filed with FINTRAC. Casino Rama does not process withdrawals from accounts where verification remains incomplete.

  1. Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Controls

4.1 Transaction Monitoring

Casino Rama maintains ongoing monitoring of account activity. Monitoring covers deposit and withdrawal patterns, frequency of transactions, changes in account behaviour, and any activity inconsistent with the account holder’s stated profile or financial standing.

Automated and manual review processes are applied. Accounts flagged during monitoring may be subject to enhanced due diligence, temporary restriction, or suspension pending investigation.

4.2 Suspicious Transaction Reporting

Where a transaction is identified as suspicious, Casino Rama is required to file an STR with FINTRAC. There is no minimum monetary threshold for suspicious transaction reporting. A transaction may be reported regardless of its value if there are reasonable grounds to suspect it is related to money laundering or terrorist financing.

Indicators that may give rise to a suspicious transaction review include, but are not limited to:

  • Account activity inconsistent with the account holder’s financial profile.
  • Use of false, stolen, or mismatched identification details.
  • Funding sources that cannot be verified or that do not correspond to stated information.
  • Patterns of deposits and withdrawals that suggest layering or structuring.

4.3 Source of Funds

Casino Rama may request a declaration or supporting documentation regarding the source of funds used to fund an account. This requirement applies particularly where transaction volumes are high or where activity is inconsistent with the account holder’s known profile. Failure to provide satisfactory source-of-funds information may result in account restriction.

4.4 Politically Exposed Persons and Sanctions Screening

All accounts are screened against sanctions lists and databases of Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs). Adverse media screening is also conducted as part of the onboarding and ongoing review process. Accounts identified as belonging to sanctioned individuals or entities will be restricted and reported in accordance with applicable law.

  1. Recordkeeping

Casino Rama retains records of identity verification documents, transaction data, and compliance reports for the periods required under the PCMLTFA and applicable FINTRAC guidance. Records are stored securely and are accessible to regulatory authorities upon lawful request.

  1. Account Restrictions and Closure

Casino Rama reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or close any account where:

  • The account holder fails to complete identity verification within the required timeframe.
  • Documentation submitted is found to be false, altered, or insufficient.
  • Transaction monitoring identifies activity that cannot be resolved through standard due diligence.
  • A regulatory authority directs Casino Rama to take action in relation to a specific account.

Where an account is restricted pending verification, funds held in the account remain subject to applicable legal holds until the matter is resolved.

  1. Account Holder Obligations

Account holders are required to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information at registration and upon request.
  • Submit verification documents promptly when requested.
  • Notify Casino Rama of any material change to personal information, including name, address, or payment method details.
  • Cooperate with any enhanced due diligence process initiated by Casino Rama.

Providing false information or documentation is a breach of these terms and may result in permanent account closure and referral to relevant authorities.

  1. Contact

For questions relating to this policy or to the status of a verification request, account holders may contact Casino Rama through the official support channels listed on the website. Regulatory correspondence related to FINTRAC obligations may be directed to FINTRAC at [email protected].

This policy is reviewed periodically to reflect changes in applicable law and regulatory guidance. The version published on the Casino Rama website is the current operative version.
